What is a ' scene ' girl?

Is it those moody types with the hair over one eye and colroful clothes? those are emos, right? I'm a 30 year old author trying to educate myself on the ' cliques' of today to write a 'mean girls' kind of play, and I don't want to sound retarded.

Emo- Depressed people who cut themselves, usually hair over their eyes kinda goth-y usually black hair, and such lot's of times were black framed glasses.

Scene- Colorful clothing all about diamonds, bats, grillz, hello kitty, gloomy bear, myspacde, whoring. Usually funky colorful hair.

The main difference is one's happy the other's not. And Scene people are all about the "scene" and go to shows and stuff.

there's a really thin line between emo kids and scene kids. They're both kind of over dramatic teenage kids who listen to mainstream generic pop music. Scene kids are a more recent phenomenon and are known for being obsessed with gimmicky retro stuff like pokemon and dinosaurs. They take arty photos of themselves on myspace and try to get a lot of friends and really crave attention.
