and i'm willing to dye my hair ANY colour.

"scene" hairstyles? Since u are going to be straightening it and using loads of products on it everyday, i don't suggest you dye all of your hair. Maybe add a bright ******* streak, or some blue layers, to save up on the damage, kinda like this:

When you get your haircut, if you are too shy to bring in a pic of what you want just explain that you want it thinned, shorter layers at the top and longer ones at the bottom, and a killer side fringe, and use your hands to show the length you want to cut it. What colour hair do you have at the moment?
With girls 'scene' hair, most people tend to relate it to black hair. Black hair is very versatile, though if you have pale skin then a harsh black may be too much. Try a hair dye with a 'purple rinse' to give it a bit more of a lift and shine.
Though, you definately don't need to stay with black hair.
Platinum blondes, dark brown with highlights, or a mixed variety of colours (purples, hot pinks, bright reds and electric blues) would match the style as well.

It's the best one out there, with many galleries all into seperate folders for long/medium/short, brown/blonde/black/coloured scene hair. Browse through them, you're sure to get some more ideas.
I'd print out a few photographs from that site and take them to the hairdressers with you. Hairdressers find it much easier if they have a photograph to work from, so they know exactly what you want.

For a description on how to tease your hair.
If you tease your hair often, it'll damage it and make it very dry. Shampoo and Condition your hair daily if you can, and twice a week use a deep leave-in conditioner to spoil your locks that extra bit.
Stock up on hairspray, hair wax/putty/clay, a fine comb and tons of hair accessories. Bows, grips, hairbands, slides (in neon colours, with polka dots and sweet designs) will all add to the effect and make your new hair look even better.
(Claires Accessories, Hot Topic etc. do some great hair accessories. Check out the kid's sections as they usually have some brighter coloured stuff.)
